Staff iPads

This is a summary of iPad distribution and replacement criteria for district staff.

Early distribution of these devices was often handled via grants, department purchasing, pilot programs, and other undefined methods. The purpose of this documentation is to provide background on our deployment expectations and to establish predictable replacement cycles.

In order to support a deliberate and logical replacement cycle for iPads, we need to establish more definitive guidelines for iPad deployment to staff. This chart shows a breakdown of our deployment model moving forward.

  • Any request that varies from the deployment rules outlined above would need to be submitted via a help ticket.
  • Any deployment here listed as an automatic "Yes" is assumed to be part of our regular distribution of iPads and therefore covered under the technology general or levy budget.
  • All certified, paraprofessional and building admin staff requests that are granted will be covered under the technology general or levy budget.
  • Any requests for district office staff or coaches will be billed back to departmental funds.
  • "As needed" in replacement cycle means that we will make best effort to replace devices currently being phased out.

Baseline Stock vs Best Effort Stock

In order to budget appropriately, we need to know what quantity of devices is considered to be our baseline, or essential stock. Items listed in the chart above as an automatic "yes" for deployment are considered to be part of that stock. We also take into account optional deployments to determine if they are likely to continue. Devices are also noted in the chart as being "not on cycle," which means we definitely do not count those as part of our essential stock.
