CommonLit 360 is the officially adopted curriculum for English/Language Arts grades 6-12. There is a Canvas integration with CommonLit that allows teachers to create and assign CommonLit assignments directly in Canvas. The numeric scores from any grading in CommonLit will sync to the Canvas grade book.
Students can complete digital assignments in CommonLit. Each assignment can be translated, read aloud, and annotated digitally as they answer questions about their readings. Teachers can see all those annotations and written responses live as students are working.
CommonLit Accounts
Staff members should use their K12 email address and password to sign into CommonLit. An app icon is available in ClassLink. Students should navigate through Canvas to access CommonLit assignments.
Connecting your CommonLit Class with Canvas
Create an Assignment in your Canvas course. Select Online and then the External Tool submission type. The first time you do this for a class, you'll be asked to import either your enter Canvas roster into CommonLit (which will place all students in your course in one class in CommonLit) or you can select individual sections created via ClassLink.
Based on technical limitations, we recommend you import your Canvas course into CommonLit or you will need to create a separate assignment in CommonLit for each section in your Canvas course. If students are added or removed from your Canvas course roster, you will need to click the “sync” button in CommonLit to update your roster. Additionally, all students will appear in one class in CommonLit and data will not be able to be separated by section.

Once you have selected a class, you can choose an existing assignment or go to CommonLit to create a new one. If you need to create a new assignment, you'll have to come back to this screen to choose an existing assignment later.

Once you click on “Link Existing Assignment,” you'll be prompted to select a class.

Find the assignment you want to use and click "+ Add to Canvas." Then you can click “select” for your external tool Assignment and save/publish it.
