The primary parent account is set up to receive a weekly email from our Lightspeed Relay Internet filter with details about student web browsing activity for the past week.

No action is needed from parents. We will update our parent list in Relay monthly based on the contact information in Infinite Campus at that time. This article provides an overview of a typical report.

If you would prefer NOT to be on the recipient list for student Internet usage, please open a help desk ticket by emailing parenthelp@shakopee.k12.mn.us with your student's full name and student ID.

Report emails typically are sent late Sunday night. The sender is identified as Relay <do_not_reply@lightspeedsystems.com> The message subject is "How (Your Student) Used the Internet this Week"

Parents/guardians also have the opportunity to sign up for the Lightspeed Parent Portal by following the register link in the report email. Follow the directions in this PDF to register. You can also go directly to https://shakopee-public.portal.relay.school/ to create an account.

The parent portal has two functions - to view web browsing activity and temporarily pause web browsing.

Parents/guardians can also pause web browsing after school hours. After school rules are in effect according to the schedule below. The standard schedule starts when school lets out and ends one hour before school begins, and all weekend.

Report Notes

  • The usage percentages listed at the top of this report fall between the following times: Before School (5-8 a.m.), During School (8 a.m. - 4 p.m.), After School (4-8 p.m.), and Late Night (8 p.m.- 5 a.m.).
  • It is normal to see some traffic during Late night since the device checks in with Apple and performs updates.
  • If there is a large amount (usually greater than 15%) of late night usage, a request can be made through  building administration to see logs.
  • Unusual website names do not necessarily indicate any issue with where students are going, and are more likely sites that deliver images, ads, or other material that is not blocked.
