Canvas is the official Learning Management System (LMS) for Shakopee Public Schools. Canvas is primarily used at grades 6-12, with some elementary teachers using it. Teachers at the secondary level do have expectations for using Canvas as the tool for sharing information about their class, posting materials, and adding assignment and test dates to the calendar. Canvas is also used for housing and delivering professional development courses for teachers and staff.
Canvas can be used instructionally for:
- Calendar displaying important due dates for all classes
- To-do list for missing and upcoming assignments
- Taking online quizzes
- Accessing files and documents
- Communication between teachers and students
- Sending and receiving files between teacher and students
- Providing feedback to students using comments, voice recordings, rubrics, and file annotation
